The daughter of billionaire Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, Jennifer Gates, said "I do" to fiancé Nayel Nassar, on the weekend of October 16, 2021. The fairytale-style wedding was held at the Gates family farm in upstate New York in Westchester and cost around $2 million.
The story of the novel began on the equestrian circuit, when the newlyweds met. And on that same circuit, Nayel and Jennifer have already participated in international competitions together. The friendship between the two ended up evolving into a relationship, and in 2020 they got engaged.
The groom, Nayel Nassar was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Kuwait by his parents, who are Egyptian. He is currently ranked 44th in the world as a show jumping rider and competed in his first Olympic Games in Tokyo. He also recently launched Jumpr, a new app for jumping results and statistics.
Bride Jennifer told Vogue magazine that: "Planning a wedding while I was in medical school and Nayel was preparing for the Olympics was no small feat." “But it was really worth sharing such a special day with those closest to us. We are so grateful for everyone involved who put us on the right track and helped bring our vision to life.”
The celebrations began with a Katb el Kitab, which is an Islamic wedding ceremony, as the groom's family is of Egyptian origin. Only family members were present at this ceremony.
For the celebration, guests were required to be 100% immunized and present a negative test for Covid-19 before the party. About 300 guests were present.
The choice of the bride's costumes left nothing to be desired and was extremely tasteful. Jennifer, then a medical student, wore a romantic model signed by Vera Wang. The bespoke gown, with long sleeves, appliquéd in handcrafted French macramé lace, had an Italian tulle veil. The other dress Jennifer wore to the reception also had Vera Wang's signature and was a model with a square neckline, with a nude tulle lining and French macrame lace appliqués embroidered on the skirt and straps. For the bridesmaids, Jennifer opted for standardization and they all wore the same model in dark green. It was a great choice and they turned out super elegant and beautiful!
The groom's choice for the special moment was an Armani, in a mix of elegance and beauty. The tuxedo carried a lily-of-the-valley flower in the lapel that matched the bride's bouquet and gave the final touch to the production.
The decoration also followed a classic style, however it presented some very luxurious details. There were many flowers along the way to the altar of the ceremony, creating a scenario of romanticism and fairy tales.
At the reception, a dinner signed by chef Jean Georges and the company Creative Edge Catering was offered. The creation of the wedding cake, which had 6 tiers, was the responsibility of Sylvia Weinstock for Ladurée.
During the party, the bride opened the dance floor with her father, as tradition dictates. The classic first dance was to the song 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' by Elton John.
After the realization of the dreamed event, the bride Jennifer declared: “I don't think that no words will do justice to what was the supernatural fairy tale this weekend.” Undoubtedly, an unforgettable celebration full of charm!
